Local charity driving down re-offending rates

Thursday, 5 February, 2015

The Upper Room works with homeless people, economic migrants and ex-offenders to help them improve their lives and conditions, and give them the self-confidence to become economically independent.  UR4Meals provides evening meals five days a week at St Saviour’s Church on Cobbold Road. UR4Driving is a driving school for ex-offenders and UR4Jobs offers specialist employment support services.

Those who have gone through the UR4Driving course and passed their test have only a 9% re-offending rate – well below the national average – and it was great to speak to some of the local people whose lives have been turned around by the charity.
