A Conservative Majority - and thanks from Charlie

Thank you for your support

Firstly, I would like to thank the 17,463 local people who voted for me last Thursday. Being the Conservative Party candidate for Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush has been an amazing experience and I have been truly humbled by the way in which so many people gave so much to help me during that time. It was fantastic to meet so many residents on the doorstep and at various events - I thoroughly enjoyed the thousands of conversations and debates I've had over the last 18 months.

Regrettably, we were not able to achieve the result we wanted locally on what was a mixed night for the Party in London. I was particularly sorry to see Angie Bray, Mary Macleod, Lee Scott and Nick de Bois lose their seats – I wish them all the very best and I hope we will see them back involved in frontline politics very soon.

In Hammersmith, the Conservatives can be very proud of the campaign we fought. We won more votes and a higher percentage vote share than we did in 2010, which reflects well on our energetic and positive campaign. However, it wasn't enough and I congratulate Andrew Slaughter and the local Labour Party on their victory.

Nationally, the picture was very different. We pulled off a famous victory and I am delighted to see David Cameron back in 10 Downing Street with a Conservative majority.

I am looking forward to enjoying a brief rest, concentrating a bit more on my wedding plans and continuing in my role as a local councillor in H&F. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if I can assist in any way.

Thank you for voting Conervative
